Post Surgery

T.J. did great through his 5 hour surgery on Friday (which was also his 4 month birthday) and looks awesome considering everything! He is now connected, but we have to wait until the 4th to do x-rays to see about any leaking or narrowing
.  He will stay
sedated until then to make sure he recovers the best he can!  T.J. is stable and with the best nurses at Children's that we've picked for him. T.J. is also now off of the paralytic as of yesterday and moves around a little bit and even opened his eyes for us when we got here!!!  He is still heavily sedated, and on pain meds and still has a ventilator, but at least he has no replogle tube anymore yay!  Some of the swelling is going down and he's looking more and more like himself again.  Because of the swelling they didn't do the circumcision, but are planing to do it the 4th along with his others tests. Mickey and I just want to thank everyone for praying. We have been waiting 4 long months for this surgery and we couldn't have done it without all of you! Please continue to pray for our family! Thank you!

The Longest Week

T.J. had a surgery last Friday and it went well.  The surgery lasted for about 4 1/2 hours.  The surgeons were not able to connect his esophagus, but they did stretch it and tack it to his spine and back muscles.  The reason they tacked it was to get him ready for his surgery next Friday.  The surgeons hope that by tacking it it will help stretch the esophagus more to be able to connect directly during the surgery if that doesn't help they will pull his stomach up so both ends of his esophagus touch and connect them that way.   T.J. swelled up quite a bit because of all the fluids that they had to give him, but is showing signs of reducing the swelling.  T.J. is on two pain killers, sedatives and a paralytic.  T.J. should not feel anything, or be able to move, but sometimes after line changes the drugs don't take effect for a few minutes and T.J. can move or twitch so what they do is either a give him more pain killers in a short amount of time or give a blood transfusion.  T.J. has had both done and both helped very well.  T.J. is also on a ventilator for the first time since he has been here.  His left lung did fill with fluids and collapse, but it is getting better.   Thank you for all  your thoughts and prayers!

Surgery Friday!!!

This will be my last post that I make before my big surgery on Friday, I will allow Mommy and Daddy to post on here Friday to keep you guys updated on my progress.  I have to let Mommy and Daddy update you because I will be under lots of meds and probably asleep for a few days.  Everything else has stayed the same since Friday's update so that's good.  I've also started to outgrow some of my 0-3 months clothes which means I'm growing big and strong for my surgery.

One More Week

After the study they have found that I have achieved maximum growth.  Well it's not enough to close the gap anymore.  We do have a plan of action that will be set in motion next Friday.  I will have my 2nd operation that will see if my esophagus can stretch together, if so they will stitch me together and then stitch me up.  If not they will stitch my esophagus to my back muscles and tissue stretching my esophagus forcefully for about a week and then check it.  If that doesn't work they will cut tissue around the outer layer of my esophagus and hopefully extend the tissue to make for less of a gap.  If all of that doesn't do it then they will tubelarize my stomach and connect my esophagus.  This entire plan will take about a month, recovery will be a few weeks from whichever procedure works.  Mommy, Daddy, and I appreciate all the love, prayers and support, but continue to ask for all 3 of those until I'm out of this place and home so I can see where I'm going to grow up.

Study for Friday

I don't have a test, but I do have a gap study for Friday.  That's the main focus this week.  My Mic-key button was a little big and causing leakage so they gave me a smaller one.  I still leak, but not as much.  They have upped my foods to 110 mls every 3 hours through a half hour feeding.  Physical therapy is going really well.  I can hold  my head up all by myself and I play with my toys all the time, but my favorite physical therapy toy is Daddys' cell phone, it has a picture of me with my Harley Davidson hat on.  It keeps me calm through tummy time and I follow it with my eyes and head wherever Mommy and Daddy move it.
